Cross Country Running

19th Dec 2025

We are so proud of our children who competed in the National Cross Country Running competitions in Belfast and in Dublin. They represented their school and Sligo Athletic club so well.
The u 11 girls team secured silver in both club and province. Fiadh from 4th class, won a National medal finishing in an amazing 5th place in a field of 180 top athletes. Indie Stanley Gillen 5th  class, also ran extremely well to aid the win above. as did Kate O Mahoney. Fionn Deasy from 5th class ran a brilliant race winning a National medal securing 8th place u 11.
Andrew 4th class,  Flynn Mc Partland 5th class also ran so well in u 11.
Timmy Brennan in 6th class along with Moss Deasy, our wonderful past pupil, ran fantastic races in both competitions and helped the Sligo u13 team secure gold medals for Sligo and Connacht.
Leo Brennan, another one of our outstanding runners, finished in 8th place in Derry winning a National medal, but unfortunately was injured for the Dublin Nationals.
These children are such an inspiration to the younger children in our school.
We continue to *run for fun* each Wednesday at break times and love to see
as many children as possible from 3rd to 6th class participating!!
